This very handsome vase demonstrates many of the reasons that I love my celadon glaze. It has received a large amount of wood ash during the firing and displays itís best qualities. You can see a small drip of glaze where it has been thinned down by the ash.
Also, it has gone blue and at the top of the piece where the deposit of wood ash is heaviest, the glaze is matt and slightly silver gray passing through gold to black.
Personal collection of Mark Goldbach and Linda Brazill.
